Yellow Marconi (heirloom)

$4.50

75 days . This classic Italian Heirloom pepper is particularly superb roasted. The 6"-10" long, 3" wide peppers start out green and ripen to yellow, becoming very sweet. Extremely flavorful raw, considered by some to be superior to bell peppers. Tends to ripen to yellow faster than bell peppers. A personal favorite of mine to eat raw as a snack and for freezing for winter. Resistant to potato virus. Pairs great with Red Bulls Horn Pepper.

I apologize in advance if there is any confusion on the color of the pepper with regards to the tag. Unfortunately, the tag companies only offer Red Marconi tags. While there is a red Marconi, we don't grow it, because Marconi peppers look exactly like our hot pepper Green Hatch Chili which also ripen to red. I can assure you that the plant you're getting should be yellow when ripened. Every once in a great while a plant shows up that is red. You can thank good ol' Mother Nature for throwing in a curve ball. I get rid of those plants that produce red peppers as I only want Yellow Marconi and I save seed off of the plants every year.
