Annual. This fabulously novel variegated cockscomb from antiquity has been brought back from obscurity! This variety was described as a beautiful and unusual floral oddity in The Country Gentleman’s Magazine, a British periodical from 1874. Alien-like combs sit atop three-foot tall plants. Lovely 4-6-inch flowers are a joy! Note: variegation varies a lot from plant to plant.

I've been growing this beauty for years in my own personal garden. The brain like flowers of different shades of yellow and red are fun! They typically don't need staked, but if the blossoms get too large may need some support. The make great flowers for drying. Yellow tends to turn a light yellow and the red to a pink color.
