Celery 'Tango'
*New 2025
Highly adaptable variety with great flavor and tender stalks. Tango performs well under less-than-ideal growing conditions such as heat or moisture stress. It is a vigorous grower without getting punky. We grew this variety with much success last year! Celery does have a stronger flavor than any you will find at the grocery store. We promise you will taste the difference.
Celery takes a long time to grow. Planting in the spring, harvest starts around August/September. The longer you wait to harvest, the bigger the celery will get. Blanching is needed for a tender stalk. Hilling with mulch, leaves, or dirt is what it commonly used. We did brown paper bags with some success, or a bucket over a few heads at a time. Blanching takes 2 weeks, so plan ahead.
