Basil- Genovese
Best basil for pesto! Grown on our farm for years, one of our favorites and our number one seller! Depending on how much basil you use for pesto, Italian dishes, and sauces 1-2 plants will supply an adult with enough basil for an entire year.
To harvest basil cut what is needed at the moment for your dish to use fresh or get "crazy" and cut the plant 2/3 the way back, then process the basil to dry or blend up to put in the freezer for later.
The key to getting a large basil plant is constantly cutting it. Every time you cut a basil stem; two more stems will start to grow in its place. Every year we start with a single stem basil plant and by the time October comes around it looks like a small shrub. So, get your scissors out and cut that basil!
